 PROJECTS UNDERWAY

Strategic Planning for the La Trobe Art Institute
Positive Solutions is assisting La Trobe University with strategic planning for the La Trobe Art Institute including research, consultation, and the facilitation of a planning session.


Planning and facilitation sessions
David Fishel and Cathy Hunt have recently provided planning session facilitation for a number of organisations, including Kaziw Meta College on Thursday Island, and the CBRarts Forum, as well as governance development for Oxfam Australia and Ausdance Queensland. David Fishel has also advised on strategic planning, board development and facilitated a planning session for Conservatorium Mid North Coast, on behalf of the NSW Department of Education.


Gold Coast Cultural Precinct Commercialisation Model
As sub-consultants to The Maytrix Group, Positive Solutions is engaged to assist the retail planning and commercial options for the Gold Coast’s new Cultural Precinct. The Precinct is located on a 16.9 hectare site and includes the Gold Coast Arts Centre and Gallery.  Positive Solutions involvement includes research into ticketing, precinct benchmarking and stakeholder engagement.


Coffs Harbour Cultural Strategic Plan
Positive Solutions is pleased to be assisting Coffs Harbour City Council in the development of a Cultural Strategic Plan for the region, as well as undertaking a feasibility study for exploring the role and benefits of a Performing Arts Centre (PAC).  This is a significant opportunity to develop a plan that recognises the central role of arts and culture to the Coffs Harbour region, fosters the vision of artists and creative industries, and guides future cultural investment and activity.


Sunshine Coast Arts Advisory Board Recruitment
Positive Solutions has been engaged to lead the process of recruiting members to the newly developed Sunshine Coast Arts Advisory Board. This includes a national recruitment campaign, a review of all applicants, the development of an interview schedule and the establishment of an industry specific interview panel.


Queensland Health
Positive Solutions is currently working with BoardConnect, McCullough Robertson Lawyers and other specialist consultants to deliver a project for Queensland’s Department of Health. The team’s role has been to assist in the preparation of transition plans for over 20 Non-Government Organisations following recent health sector reforms.  We are continuing to provide advice and support to these organisations throughout 2016 and 2017.


Brisbane Writers Festival CEO Recruitment
Positive Solutions has been engaged to assist the Brisbane Writers Festival with the recruitment of a CEO.  The project includes advertising, consulting industry leaders, assessing applications, and providing support and advice to the Panel.

Northern Territory Arts and Cultural Policy
Positive Solutions assisted Arts NT in the development of an Arts and Cultural Policy for the Northern Territory Government, through undertaking consultation with artists, arts organisations and the community. This policy will guide the NT Government in all aspects of arts and cultural development, with a strong focus on Indigenous art and culture.


Heide Museum of Modern Art Future Planning and Advice
As sub-consultants to SGS Economics and Planning, Positive Solutions assisted the Heide Museum of Modern Art with future planning and advice on strategies for sustainability.  The project included benchmarking, financial analysis and a workshop with representatives from the Heide Museum and Creative Victoria.


Arts NSW Service Organisation Evaluation and Service Delivery
Following the preparation of assessment guidelines for the Arts and Cultural Development Program (ACDP), Positive Solutions was engaged to advise further on the assessment process undertaken by Arts NSW for Service Organisations applying for program funding for 2016 onwards, and to review and advise on the NSW arts and cultural sector’s longer-term service needs.


Demand Assessment for Geelong Performing Arts Centre
Further to the initial demand assessment completed by Positive Solutions in 2009, Positive Solutions was engaged in 2015 to assist Geelong Performing Arts Centre with an updated review of demand for GPAC’s facilities, to inform strategic and venue development planning. Following interviews with stakeholders, Positive Solutions made recommendations to GPAC and Creative Victoria for future planning and development.


State Library Victoria Business Model for Touring Exhibitions
Positive Solutions was engaged by the State Library Victoria to examine the case for including new exhibition spaces and programs within the Library’s $83 million building redevelopment project.


Review of GAL2 Funding Program, Creative Victoria
Positive Solutions undertook a review of the GAL2 (Guarantee Against Loss) funding program for Creative Victoria. This included a review of three years of program data, consultation with program stakeholders, a review of background data, and an assessment of similar programs in other areas. This resulted in Positive Solutions providing recommendations for the funding program moving forward.


Creative New Zealand Multi-Year Investment Programmes Review
Positive Solutions was engaged to review Creative New Zealand’s Multi-Year Investment Programmes. The process included surveys, interviews and research in the achievements of the programmes, an assessment of their efficiency and effectiveness, and evaluation of the degree to which the programmes are understood and supported by the arts sector.


Gold Coast Gallery Director Recruitment
Positive Solutions was engaged to assist The Arts Centre Gold Coast with the recruitment of a Gallery Director.  The project included advertising, consulting industry leaders, assessing applications, and providing support and advice to the Panel. This resulted in the successful appointment of gallery professional Tracy Cooper-Lavery to provide effective leadership for the Gold Coast City Gallery in the forthcoming stages of development.

COMINGS AND GOINGS

Positive Solutions is pleased to welcome Megan McCormack as Consultancy Manager.  Megan has extensive experience within the arts and creative industries working in project administration, business development and office management. Megan can be contacted via megan.mccormack@positive-solutions.com.au

We are also thrilled to welcome Michelle Eskola as Administration and Project Officer. Michelle is a visual artist with a background in arts administration.

Company Administrator Sara Bannon has left her role at Positive Solutions to pursue other projects. Sara has been a valued member of the Positive Solutions team and will be greatly missed.
