A strategic plan and direction for Muscular Dystrophy Queensland

THE CONTEXT

Muscular Dystrophy Queensland (MDQ) is a not-for-profit charity dedicated to empowering people living with muscular dystrophy and similar neuromuscular conditions to make the most of opportunities and fulfil their potential to live the lives they choose. As the peak body for people with muscular dystrophy and similar conditions, Muscular Dystrophy Queensland provides a range of free and NDIS related chargeable services to their clients.

THE BRIEF

In early 2021, MDQ initiated development of an updated strategic plan and direction for the organisation for the next four years. MDQ engaged Positive Solutions to facilitate a planning workshop to launch the process.

The Strategic Plan 2022 – 2025 targets two client focused core areas and two enablers which together tell the story of who MDQ are, what they are committed to achieving in the coming four years, and the organisation they need to be in the long-term, to have the greatest impact.

OUR APPROACH

Positive Solutions worked closely with MDQ to prepare and facilitate a planning workshop – and on plan completion.

It was important to form a clear understanding of the organisation’s current issues and future opportunities and develop an action plan for further development. The project commenced with Positive Solutions designing a short preliminary survey, which Muscular Dystrophy Queensland circulated to key stakeholders. Positive Solutions then assisted on the analysis of the findings from the stakeholder survey, which informed the preparations for the workshop.

Preparations also included the development of identified materials. Positive Solutions then facilitated a workshop with key organisational stakeholders. With a draft Action Plan submitted for client feedback.

THE RESULT

In the final stage, Positive Solutions provided drafting support towards the development of a Strategic Plan for MDQ, and helped with development of KPIs and monitoring processes.
